Graphic Art South Africa

Graphic art ranges from printmaking to  digitally drawn images using techniques such as etching, engraving or  screen-printing. The advantage of a printed graphic is that the artist  can reproduce the same image over and over again. Graphic art  originated by the production of a design on a medium like rubber,  Plexiglas or copper in order to transfer the images to the materials of  choice such as paper, cloth, wood, metals and plastics.

Our most notable South African artist that created graphics was the late Pieter van der Westhuizen. Other famous international artists in this field include Jack Vettriano, Csaba Markus, Itzchak Tarkay, Annora Spence and Roy Fairchild, amongst others.
