As one of the earliest forms of art, from prehistoric man to ancient Egyptian relics, sculptures are still one of the favourites when it comes to South African art. The three-dimensional aspect of the materials used in sculpture offer excellent depictions of the human form as well as that of animals and objects.
Popular mediums of South African sculptures include bronze, copper, nickel, pewter and wood, which can be seen amongst the works of South African sculpture artists Yoka Wright, Louis Chanu, Jean Doyle and Andre Stead, amongst others.
