AYANDA MABULU
Born 1981 - King Williams Town, Eastern Cape, South Africa
About the Artist:
Ayanda Mabulu was born in King Williams Town in the Eastern Cape on 4 October 1981.
Encouraged from a young age, Ayanda was given tasks involving drawing which he thoroughly enjoyed. From Grade 4 onwards he knew that that was the only thing he really wanted to do.
When he finished school he got involved in community projects where he picked up a few of the basic techniques of painting and thereafter developed a unique style of his own.
Style and format:
His work is colourful and meaningful touched with both humour and pathos and depicts life in the vibrant townships of our rainbow nation. He paints his surroundings with complete honesty and intends to continue reflecting visuals of his day-to-day existence on canvas.
He started out in the most humble of circumstances, but his desire, dedication and passion have taken him to far great heights within the last few years.
Ayanda is a positive symbol of the new South Africa. He is young and confident and his work reflects this.
