JUDAS MAHLANGU
Born 1951 – Brakpan, Gauteng
Judas Mahlangu studied at the Rorke’s Drift Art Centre and also worked with Bill Ainslie in Johannesburg for several years. He is a member of the Soweto Art Society and of the SAAA. Judas also gives back to the community by teaching, which he does in his own studio in KwaThema, East Rand and also in Soweto.
Judas has participated in numerous group and solo exhibitions from 1973 in South Africa, the USA, West Germany and the UK.
Judas’s coloured etchings and lino-cuts, often depicting landscapes, urban scenes, figures and religious themes, as well as his originals, are well collected and now hang in many private and corporate collections.
