LYNNE MARIE EATWELL
Born 1982 – Johannesburg, South Africa
Lynne is probably too young to ordinarily have a biography written about her! – What can a young life have which requires review and inspection at this young age when innocence is there to be cherished and respected. The thing is, she has done so much in such a short time and blooms with talent and ability, which begs a certain reward in the future. But just let me remind you to think of this young girl in terms of the most beautiful “English Primrose” of the innocence of years as you read on.
Lynne has been a wild achiever in her academic pursuit of Art at the National School of Arts. Not only did she receive her full colours for art, she has always finished top pupil in all her grades.
Like her brother Eric – a great and critical role model, she has concentrated on figurative works – some set in landscape backdrops and others as part of the interior. Her style is often more precise and softer than her brother Eric but she does work very quickly also.
Lynne looks also to the great Nineteenth Century Artist John Singer Seargent for inspiration but clearly departs in colour and feel to portray her African Scenes.
Her figure work is particularly evocative – “The Crying Girl” and “The Girl at Railway Carriage Window” particularly comes to mind.
It has become a cliché but yet again one worth stating one more time, that many artists observe the ordinary and mundane; interpret/paint the scene and represent it back to us in a way that excites us, causing us to notice afresh. This is very true of both Lynne and Eric Eatwell.
In terms of progression from here (please remember her tender young age) we can expect further refinement of technique and a tendency toward scenery coupled with a more abstract vision as she matures. Such is the way with all great artists.
Lynne’s works have been collected widely throughout the world and within South Africa in both Corporate and private homes.
In 2005 Lynne journeyed to Mexico to spend time exploring the country and soaking up its unique styles and creativity.
