MARGE ‘MAGGS’ EATWELL
Born 1940 – Orange Free State, South Africa

Marge’s interest in art goes way back to her childhood, which was spent on a farm in the Free State.  On finishing formal schooling, Marge embarked on a career in display, commercial art and illustration.  She was grateful that in this chosen path of training, she was not bogged down with the endless exercises required of the art student for their “portfolios” using more traditional materials.

Marge moved into retail sales and display in South Africa, Botswana and Zambia as she always judged art to be precarious in its cash flow.  But in 1982, Marge decided that the calling was too great and she became a full time artist in South Africa.  She gained great resolve and strength from her fervently held Christian beliefs that she shares freely with all she meets.

Her main media is oil although she is equally happy with acrylic.  Marge is very fond of any South African landscape and floral scene and spent five years in Cradock in the Karoo painting mainly outdoors.  Marge’s work possesses a cleanness and joy not found in the work of other artists.

Her works have been purchased mainly for décor and that they make you feel good about life and what you see around you.  Marge’s work has sold well to private individuals and corporations in South Africa, Australia, England and the U.S.A.
