In 1996 Marietha K turned what was a part time hobby into a highly desirable and uniquely South African art form by working with a combination of copperplate and solder.
The success of her wildlife art soon prompted this South African artist to expand her business by employing a local lady, Lizzie, from the surrounding township in 1997.
After a lot of experimenting and training, they have formed a formidable partnership and work closely together to continually produce new wildlife artworks. Lizzie, who was previously unemployed, now earns enough money to provide for her two children who live in the township with their grandmother.
Marietha's solder craft range of wildlife characters include elephant, rhino, giraffe, bush pig, ostrich, guinea fowl, meerkat and crocodile, amongst others.
This creative South African artist’s highly original works are collected by many local and international admirers.
